For the most part, gun owners are some of the nicest people out there. However, we are human and we make mistakes. That being said, there is one mistake that really irks me, probably because it is the single most mis-pronounced word at the gun counter, in gun videos, and other gun related media. So please allow me to help correct this. The word is Ambidextrous.
From Merriam-Webster:
am·bi·dex·trous
adjective \ˌam-bi-ˈdek-strəs\
Definition of AMBIDEXTROUS
1: using both hands with equal ease
2: unusually skillful : versatile
3: characterized by duplicity : double-dealing
— am·bi·dex·trous·ly adverb
I hear this day in and day out as ambi-dext-r-eeee-ous. I have heard of silent letters, but not invisible ones. There is no extra letter between the “r” and the “ous”. Seriously, stop it.
