I finished my little tacticool project finally and took her for a spin this morning. I have to admit, I was expecting some pretty hefty recoil from my little 7 pound monstrosity and I was hoping that the Jerry Miculek muzzle brake would help a little. As it turns out, that wonderful $60 hunk of metal on the end of the muzzle turned her into a pussy cat. Seriously, this thing kicks less than my SKS. It’s looking like I’m going to be shooting a lot of the glorious cartridge of the motherland in the next coming months. At least I have something that I can afford to shoot and is as much fun as my AR, Scarlett. I know some of you are champing at the bit, Byram especially, so here are links to some videos of the completed project and it being shot.

BTW, from the video it looks like your prediction came true about the forward grip aiding bolt manipulation.
Cool project! You have me sold on muzzle breaks. And watch the open handed bolt manipulation, its a bad habit to get into. It doesn’t work well with every bolt gun so you’re better off pinching the bolt with your thumb and fingers. I know some unsolicited internet advice was what you were looking for…
And you didn’t have to beat the action open with a 2×4! Win!
